Emergence reflects the confusing, challenging, and constrictive experience of the first 18 months of the pandemic, speaking to this shared moment as a difficult yet hopeful phase within the broader arc of our lives.

The installation’s physical experience—walking through a tunnel and crouching through a tight, uncomfortable passage—invites visitors to engage with the piece on a visceral level.

Emergence encourages reflection on how we will feel, who we will become, and who we aspire to be as we emerge from this challenging time.

This art piece was a prototype for our much larger piece Re:Emergence, created in 2022.
